Just in time for soon midsummer we made the swimming pool for our dogs in he old kennels ready to use again. And it is as big as never before, due to the still rather high waterlevel of the lake. The dogs will enjoy the possibility to cool down on hot summer days!
Yesterday we had - as every year - again duck-time in the new kennels. One crazy duck-mum has chosen a tree in the middle of the kennels for her nesting. And yesterday, shortly after feeding time of the dogs, their first fly-out (or better fall-out) arrived. The first 5 baby-ducks came down shortly after feeding time of the dogs and were then running like crazy through the kennels. Luckily we could catch them all before a dog did so. Mum and the 2 last ones were probably too irritaded by the loud barking of the dogs and did wait rather long time to come down. So we put the 5 others first in a safe box to keep them away from the kennels. When the rest of the family finally landed, we let them free on the lakeshore and could then observe how they found the others. The Laverda-Pups are growing fast and almost doubled their birth-weight. They also got names by now: Nero, Kello, Karhu, Flocke, Taivas and Krümel. Karhu with the stitched neck-wound is healthy and developing normally. We are so happy that our little fighter made it without infection!
