Mild temperatures and a lot of snow in jubilee-week nbr 1

During the last days we had again nicely mild temperatures between -16 in the night and -5 C during daytime. In addition we got strong winds and lots of fresh snow in the last 36 hours, which makes our landscape now really look like the perfect winter-wonderland and driving the dogs on those soft trails is a great feeling! Good for our today arriving guests from Switzerland and Holland.

During our first official jubilee-week, our dogs run almost 6900 km all together, mostly under great sunshine and blue sky.  And because celebrating is so much fun, here is straight our next jubilee-offer: for the week from 3th - 10th March 2013, the 2 fastest from our readers get a winterweek at the special rate of € 499 per person in twin room, including fullboard, a sled-ride with our veterans, showshoes and skis for free use, as well as transfers from/to Joensuu airport (arrival at 17h25, departure at 12h30). First come - first served!

Unfortunately today was departure-day for Vanessa. Her "old" working colleagues could not make it without her any longer. Thanks Vanessa for a great help during the last 3 months! You were a super team-member and we will miss you!
For mid-February we now await Ralph back, he will stay for about 1 year and get even deeper into the dog-business than what he already learned in late autumn/early winter.

Yesterday was the big race-day on our trails. The Jongunverran Race, a sleddog marathon of almost 110 km length, with only 4 hours break in Ruunaa, startet nearby in the village. To be honest, our dogs are not trained for this kind of competition, that´s why no team from us was participating. They would run the distance, but they would have a problem with "only" 4 hours break, as they are used to much longer ones during our tour-weeks. But we congratulate everybody who participated in the race and hope they all had fun!
