Season-Opening!

Officially started - the season 2014/2015! Yesterday evening our first guests arrived. They will spend their Christmas-Week with us, split up in 3 groups. The snow conditions are just great by now. Close to 50 cm powder in most of the areas. The first sled-training-days are over and also a snowshoe-hike around the Lakes Änäkäinen was on the schedule today.

Almost un-noticed, today was the shortest day of the year. 4 hours 28 minutes between sunrise and sunset. Well, we did not really see the sun today, she was hiding behind clouds. But thanks to all the snow, the day seemed very bright anyhow and we had the feeling it was much longer than those 4 1/2 hours.

During the coming days we will experience a drop in temperatures, -20 C is announced as coldest. A cold which is very welcome here, although we will have to get used to it first, after the last weeks of rather mild temperatures, close to zero.

Our trail-crew worked hard in the last 3 days to get all trails open. It did not work out 100%, as certain swamp or lake-parts are still too wet to drive over. But with the announced cold coming soon, we are sure to get some new parts ready until the 3-day-trips with cabin-overnights start.

We wish you all a relaxed evening of 4th advent and send you snowy greetings from winter-wonderland!
