Soon Midsummer!

Eventhough the current weather is not really like midsummer, our agenda tells us, that during this coming weekend we celebrate the longest day of summer 2015 and therefore middle of summer has arrived. Sun rise today was at 03h50 and sunset will be at 22h52. Temperatures so far in our "high summer" reach luckily around 20 degrees C during daytime. And hope is still alive, that warmer days will come, sooner or later.

A few days ago, Daan from Holland joined our team. He will be volunteering with us until end of July and of course will present himself on our facebook-page in the next days in his own words. We wish him a lot of fun and many good experiences during his stay at Eräkeskus.

Paddling-season has started! Ok, for swimming it is still a bit fresh, but the water levels are so nice at the moment, that especially paddling on the small wilderness rivers Hähnijoki, Laklajoki and Valamajoki is big fun, because there is a nice currant which makes it easy and no sandbanks or rocks have to be carried around.

3 of our dogs found a new sponsor end of May. Lore adopted Maddox, Renate is taking care of Junior and Chantal fell in love with Niska. Now already 42 of our dogs have a sponsor! Thanks to everybody for your appreciated support of our dogs!

Last but not Least: we have a new champion, a world-champion! After having won already the World-Dog-Show 2014 and getting the title of Junior World Winner, our purebreed Greenland-Dog Jack now won also the World-Dog-Show 2015 in Milano last weekend in adult class and has also won within 3 weeks the titles of Finnish Champion and Italian Champion. We, especially Simone as owner, are proud of our Greeny, who is also doing great in front of the sled and who is still enjoying a few weeks of champion-holiday in Switzerland.

We wish you all a great, sunny Midsummer-Weekend!
