Unlucky mishaps...

... that's probably what describes our first trail-day out in snow best... Alex and Konstantin were out to prepare the first trails to be used with sleds. But sadly not everything went as planned.

The state-owned forest-company Metsähallitus is still logging a lot in the areas of our official trails. The cut down trees lay criss-cross on some parts, impossible to drive over, the huge machines stand there, blocking the way. Impossible to prepare trails! A lot of cleaning-up and complaining ahead of us...

We have snow, but not yet the real deep cold and not everything is frozen. Especially the swamp-parts are tricky and sometimes it is just a few seconds too late when one realises that driving over with full speed would have been better.

Conclusion of the day: our Viking was brought back home by car and trailer. Its fan belt is exchanged by now and it is ready to go out again! The Panther had one overnight in the wet swamps, before it was rescued next morning. By now it has dried out and is ready to be used again as well. So after all, a not so bad day! And lots of trail-parts can be done by sleds already nicely. Sadly we cannot yet prepare the lake-parts to get more trails ready for starting/returning. So far only the ET-trail connects us with the trail-system east of Lake Puuruu.  But we work on ice and cold and do our best... :-)
