3 weeks to go before springtime & pups announcement!

3 more weeks we have season here and spring is unmistakingly knocking on our doors. The first swans came back from south and are paddling around the few open water places where rivers connect with lakes. The forests look already a bit greener than a few weeks before and if you look carefully enough, you can find the first fresh buds on some bushes. Trails are getting soft and wet during daytime, luckily during the night they harden again. But... driving sleds is getting more difficult at this time of the year, very technical, and our guests are falling off more often than earlier in winter.

Our litter-planning for summer 2017 has advances. The first litter is expected for the very last days of this winter-season. The 2nd honeymoon-couple left the "suite! a few days ago and for litter 3 we still wait for the female to come in heat. But she seems not to be in a hurry and as we have a plan "B" and if female A is not interested, then female B maybe is faster  :-) Anyhow we will have puppies again during this summer and look very much forward to it already now!

The last bordertrail of the season will start on Saturday - we hope for good weather and that the trails to Ruunaa keep open long enough. For the remainng bearstrail-groups of the next 3 weeks, we are lucky to have many trails to choose from. If one cabin gets too difficult to reach, we drive to another and keep the exact planing done in last minute. A good thing at this time of the year, is to start out earlier than normal, to avoid the warmest temperatures around noon, and then enjoy a relaxed sunny afternoon in the lodge or in the cabins.
