Cold finally - and some first sunny days!

The long awaited cold has finally arrived in North-Karelia. -23 C was the lowest temperature during last week and that is enough to finally freeze the remaining wet parts on swamps, lakes and rivers to get the complete trail-net open. The first parts of the "new" trails is already in use, more will follow. Our trail-crews are out whenever possible.

Also the sun is back in North-Karelia. Hardly visible during the last weeks, now we enjoy every moment with sun and the very special light during January. Easiest to enjoy this is on a snowshoe-hike, when guests are not so concentrated on trails and dogs. And these hiking-trips are getting more and more popular in our program, a change in the dog-program, very welcome for most of our winterweek-guests.

Our new wilderness cabin AIttokoski was reached by dog-teams for the first time this season during last week. As Roger and his Bears-Teail-Group are still out on tour, pictueres will follow in the next news. The first Bordertrail starts in the coming week and we are curious how the dogs manage the longer distances, the longest around 55km and at the beginning of the season a first real test for our dogs.

So cross fingers that all goes well during coming week - we will be back with updates!
