First Bordertrail finished!

Cino as mainguide, Dennis and Roger as Co-guide, together with Franzi, Karin and Jörg, started last week for the first bordertrail of the season 17/18. The new routing of the tour was leading them - after the refreshing- & training-day for the already experienced mushers - first up north to our new basecamp Aittokoski, then back south to the small, but charming cabin Olkikoski, next day over mountain Hovivaara to the Ruunaa-region and on the last day back north again, back home to Eräkeskus.

30 dogs, parts of the trails under deep snow and windblown, a lot of uphills and downhills, a broken Stake-Out (dog Pedra managed it...), days with good sun, days covered in grey, several falldowns, long days on the trails and cosy evenings in the cabins, those things made the week unforgettable. A planned extra-loop of 30 km was cancelled because of the tough trails and rather short days, but surely the week will be remembered by the participants. More than 150 km on sled-runners, enjoying snow, silence and nature! That's what makes a week here in the North so unforgettable!

We let the pictures speak for themselves and look forward to the next bordertrail, starting in week 5.

And... last but not least: Frank is spending his holiday with us. He joined our team for about 1 month, of course together with Mandela. And of course he will not only cuddle with Mandela and sleep in the snow, but be out as guide and learn our guests how to handle a dogteam!
