Long days and cold nights

Again 2 weeks have gone, fast like crazy. Halftime of our winter-season is over now.  The last 2 weeks were dominated by a lot of sun from early morning till evening, deep blue sky and perfect trail-conditions. Winter-Wonderland at its greatest! The nights were many time freezing cold, -30C or colder still in early morning. But the sun has a lot of power already, so during daytime we have around -15C, which is just perfect for you, us and the dogs.

Sunrise today was at 7h00, sunset will be at 17h30. Our days are almost as long as yours in central Europe. But we catch up fast and soon our days will be longer than yours!

So far this winter has not shown us many Northern Lights. But last week, we could see some shy ones and one of our guests has taken the pictures. But even without Nothern Lights, the clear sky with thousands of stars and almost no artificial lights irritating the horizon, is something very beautiful, we think!

The Tundra-Pups have been in harness for their first time now! During the last days all of them have been on a first loop of 3.5 km and confirming their talents! We won't do much longer runs with them during the remaining weeks of this winter, but let them run once or twice per week to get some routine for them, before the serious work starts then in coming autumn. It also helps to get their excess-energy out once in a while! Representing the whole litter, here pictures from Lance jr (in the Team, left, last row) and Asra (standing).

Last but not least: Markus arrived for 3 months volunteering. As he has been here already twice and knows the system well, he is a big help now in the reaming half of winter. Welcome Markus!
