Happy New Year!

2019 is still very young, but beautifully and fresh white covered! At the moment, 3 groups are out on the trails and they probably have to fight a bit with the about 15 cm of fresh snow, what arrived during the night. We wish a Happy New Year to all our readers, friends and partners! Happy Trails!

Everything during the Christmas-Week went well and all 5 groups returned back home, happy and full with new experiences! New Years-Week is now the current challenge for us, tomorrow the first groups start out for the cabin-trips. The torch-hike on Christmas-Eve and yesterday evening, with apero in the dark forests, illuminated by our swedish candles, was once more a great start to the celebrations! It was followed by another superbe 5-course-dinner by our chefs Dennis & Roger, sitting & being together, relaxing, memories from the old year and making plans for the new year. That's how we like Christmas and NewYear!

Katja built a beautiful ice-bar outside the bbq-hut, which we sadly could not innaugurate yesterday night due to bad wind and snowfall. But we will do it tonight - never too late to raise the glass to the new year!

Caro, Melissa and Frank joined the team shortly before Christmas and now our team of 12 is complete for the coming weeks. Frank stays for the whole winter season, Caro until end of February and Melissa until end of January.

A short moment of sad, but good memories we dedicate today to all the dogs who left us during the year 2018: Panda, Musta, Pointi, Sputnik, Chippo, Varma, Diego, Molly, Paco, Snoopy, Meryl, T-Pow, Django, Ruija, Reina, Ike and yesterday afternoon also unexpectedly Zorro as last one in 2018! A lot of dogs, if we list only the names. But knowing that most of them were Oldies, 12 - 16 years old, real oldies for working dogs, and knowing that they had a long happy life here with us, makes the farewell easier.  Of course it is always sad to let them go. But it is part of our life at Eräkeskus, like raising pups is a part as well. We have many old dogs here and the number of goodbyes is connected to that. Run free and wild - all you beloved 4-legged friends!

In the name of all our adopted dogs, we were offering a nice amount to the wolf-conservation group in Finland, whos target is to protect the existing wild packs of wolves in Finland. We support their activities financially, instead of offering a Christmas-gift to all dog-sponsors. Thanks for all the positive feedbacks! May the wild wolves survive in long term and be a nice living side-by-side be possible!

Happy New Year!
