Indian Summer in Finnland

Slowly but constantly autumn returns to North-Karelia, although we had perfect Indian Summer during the last few days with a lot of sun and nice temperatures around 20 C. Is it still possible to swim in the lake after the recent colder nights? We don't know, honestly. Partly because we are only 4 workers at the moment and therefor the days are rather full. Partly also because we start to feel a light tingling when thinking about autumn training. And then of course "lake" or "swimming" is moved down on our priority-list. Some early morning runs with the kickbike were done already. At the moment it is more an early morning temperature check and then going "only" for a walk with the dogs, a bit disappointed.

The last "Karelian Explorer" of summer 2019 started this morning with Beate and Ralf. We wish them a nice hiking and paddling and look forward to see them again after the trip, hopefully as happy and relaxed as they were before the start this morning, sitting on our sundeck, or at the hike-starting-place.

The puppy-front is happy to announce, that all Bria-Pups eat now from their own bowls. Best preparation to their later life in the big kennels. And sadly Little-Jarkkos first treatment of his cherry-eye has not brought any success and he was now operated today.  Everybody please cross fingers that everthing goes well and that he can return to his siblings after about 1 week.

Last week Hartmut, Niki and Taffya were joining Russian wolf-specialist Vladimir on his hike, tracking wolves of North-Karelia. They saw many prints from wolves and also bears, but sadly no real animal! But the day was for sure interesting, many stories were told and a lot was learned about the packs in North-Karelia!
