Autumn, new Furnitures and Staff-House-News

Indian Summer/Autumn is almost here, very close, waiting outside the door. The first step outside in early morning is a bit chilly. 1-digit-temperatures are not yet what we are used to. Only the tough or incurable ones still wear shorts here on the yard... The birches start to get yellow leaves and the lichen & blueberry-plants bring the first colour-spectacle to the forest ground. While enjoying an autumn-hike to Hiidenportti, Nadja & Alex found bear-feces; looks like also Mr & Mrs Thick-coat are wandering around and enjoying berries, mushrooms and colours. Weather forecast predicts more of those dry, fresh and sunny autumn-days, what will bring us to the peak of Indian Summer in approximately 2weeks.

Sad that only very few guests can enjoy it during this year! As the Finnish Goverment closed the borders again for almost all European countries, we expect only 3 clients with special entry-permits during the next 2 weeks. After them we are sadly again guest-free for an undeterminded time.

But again we fill up our guest-free days with many useful projects. This weekend the project "new shower/toilet/sauna for Staffhouse" will be finished. Thanks to many helping hands from the team and an efficient work of Olli & Harri, this is done by end of August, as it was planned.  The roof of the staff house was partly renewed and waits now for the endurance test during the expected autumn-rains. The final phase of project "refurnishing guesthouse" has started; only rooms 3 & 9 left. Everything should be ready in the next few days. Then we have only "new fireplace in the staffhouse" and "re-making of the new kennels" on our bucket list. During September and October we will focus on those 2 to not fall for the roll of Corona during autumn times.

Leonie is the new face in our team, she starts a 4-months volunteering in September. Welcome in the team! As she is already here since a few days, she knows already half of the new kennels and is today paddling and wood-working on river Hähnijoki together with Peter. If everything goes fine, we will collect these 2 in about 2 hours, wet but happy!

We cross fingers for us and for all travel-willing Europeans, that the Corona-Crazyness moves soon to the right direction and that tourism can slowly start back and get a bit more "normal" again!
