Happy Midsummer!

A real heatwave run over us during the last days. Temperatures up to 35 degrees are tough for all of us here, 2- or 4-legged. But thanksGod we have a lake in front of the house! Because of the long dry period, a fire-ban was set for the whole area during a long time, to prevent forest-fires. But hej, who wants to make a fire with those temperatures... we would rather spend the evening in the fridge… After the heat came the common storms, thunder and lightning, added by real heavy rainfall. This year they were so heavy that many of the sand-roads got really washed-out, floaded roads with piles of sand and gravel from overboarding rivers, even parts of the city of Kuopio were floaded for a while. Of course that goes along with electricity-cuts and for us then also water-cuts. The longest took over 13 hours. But we stay relaxed, as we have the lake in front of the house. Light is anyhow not needed in June, as we have almost 24 hours daylight.  Therefor: no problem for us! Since today now the temperatures have dropped to a normal, finnish summer-level around 25 degrees and working outside is more fun again.

Thanks to the recent hot days, the Minea-youngsters have learned now to swim. Of course they were attracted by the cooling wet during those days. First just splashing around, then comes that one step what is too far out, the swim-instinct kicks in, self-confidence is growing and now they go there every day without hesitating.

Our activities on days off or after work are all now on the water. Nobody wants to hike... Paddling in the late evening on a lake like a mirror, toward the sunset, maybe even wait until sun rises again, that is something beautiful and very special you can only experience in the North. If you want to experience it one day as well, we would be happy to show it to you!

Our biggest summer-project, the new Lumi-row in the Old Kennels, is finished and we are so proud of it! 2 more intense team-days were needed to get all the elements placed, adjust the doors, mount the doghouses and do all the small finishing jobs. Now the first dogs moved in, more will follow. A big Thank-You to the team! It was a really exciting project which was handled in perfect teamwork and was a lot of fun. And as we are in the building-flow now, we already built more elements during this week to start with the 2 smaller projects in the Old Kennels: project Kaan and project Kello-row will be started next week and should be finished in 2 weeks.

We wish you all a happy midsummer-weekend! Traditionally this is celebrated in Finnland over the whole weekend, like a National Holiday. Starting from Monday, everything goes back to normal here!
