Stake-Out-Training and Trail-Jobs

Our first Stake-Out-Training took place last week with our guests Petra & Harald, dogs from the new kennels, Helena, Liah and Simone. Profiting from fresh and dry conditions, we drove with 2 motorised and 2 non-motorised teams to the stake-out-place, where Liah was already waiting with food and a fire. There we unharnessed the dogs, they got a tasty bone, a strawbed and later a meat-soup. We humans got steaks and sausages from open fire, served with a rice-salad and hot tea. Specialists like Bolle or Mörkö were digging like crazy to get their perfect windshelter in the ground. Other specialists like Luna, Sica and Finja were roaming free, as they are anyhow not staying at the stake-out. Abter about 3 hours of break we harnessed the dogs again, changed the vehicles and drove back home on a different route. A bit of change in daily routine is nice to have, for dogs as well as for humans.

As the guests have left by now, we could do some trail-jobs in the last days - beside the normal training. As the forest government was logging again in the area of the scouthouse-trail, we had to mark and clean this part of the trail from stumps and branches. The ET-bridge was moved a bit by the high waters in early summer; now it is back in normal position again and can be used as before. And while visiting the trails for trainings-phase 2, our new team-members got to know also the barriere-trail and widen their knowledge of the area a bit further.

And last but not least: if someone is wondering about the last picture: now, we do not have so warm anymore, that we seek for refreshment in the deep-freezers. That is Lisa stacking and storing a new delivery of meat. Like in the game Tetris, every block has to fit perfectly to make sure, the whole ton of meat finds place in the freezers. And while doing this, it can actually happen that one looses balance and finds himself/herself head-under in the freezer :-)
