A Bit of Everything!

That's what we and our guests got here during the last 2 weeks. We had fog, sun, plus degrees, minus degrees, heavy winds with strong  windrifts, snowstorms and of course masses of fresh snow on an almost daily base. And everything changes so fast, that we never know what expects us next morning. Yesterday we had the full day long wet snow falling, mild temperatures around zero and it was gray all day long. This morning it is sunny, blue sky, no winds, and of course the "normal" amount of about 15 cm fresh snow.  So the shoveling by hand and atv goes on also today, while a car full with guests is right now on the way to the airport and brings new guests in the evening.

Last week we were very happy to have all the doghouses in the Aittokoski cabin. So we could change the Ruunaa-trip to the Aittokoski, where the dogs could rest in a dry strawbed, instead of sleeping out in wet, heavy snow with too warm temperatures. The group had a lot of fun also in this cabin! Finja & Inari booked for themselves again the whole straw-shelter and enjoyed a night in a really big "doghouse". During this ending week we drove to the Aittokoski again for 2 x 2 nights and had a lot of fun again with the group André and another BearsTrail-Group. And everything was topped by snowhoeing around Änäkäinen and in the Otroskoski-area, as well as a speedy scooter-trip in the Ruunaa-area.

For the coming week we hope for a bit more steady conditions, which would allow us to keep the trails open by dogs, not using the scooter regularly. On the program we have 2 groups for Bears Trail and a winterweek for beginners, plus some daytrips for short-time visitors. Cross fingers for sun, powder, blue sky and no winds!

Leon is leaving us tomorrow. He had added 2 months to his volunteering and experienced now a great winter-period with us. As certainly unforgettable highlight of his time he was out on Bears Trail as guide during last week. Together with Moritz and the guests for sure a week he will not forget. We say a huge Thank You to Leon for his time, for a great job he has done over those 6 months and wish him all the best for his future!
