Midsummer is over since a good while, but real summer here just started! After the heatwave, coming from central Europe, brought us temperatures up to 36 degrees C, now we are back to normal finnish summer-temperatures. And thanks to regular short rain showers, nature is at its best at the moment. Even the first mushrooms could be found yesterday.
During our hikes, we prefer to have breaks near a lake-shore, to be able to take a short refrshing swim. Forest fire warnings were stopped again, ater the dry and very hot temperatures a few days ago. So now we can enjoy the nice BBQ from open campfire again during breaks. Our hiking-company-dogs are taking best care of fireplaces and the meat lying there...
Our dog-pool near the New Kennel is in use since this week and all dogs appreciate the refreshing splashing-moments in the lake. Very typical for finnish beach-visitors: Not even 24 hours after the finishing of the pool, the first request reached City of Lieksa to check out if all laws and rules are followed properly... The pool is indeed visible from the public beach, but built on our land facing the lake-shore. We are curious to see, how the Hygiene department of Lieksa will handle this request from a visitor and our first statement about it.
Our 5 summer-litters are now in 3 groups. The puppies of Tosca and Mulan, only 2 days of age-difference, are now playing happily in 1 group. The Talvi-Puppies are age-wise somehow in between and kept in their own group. They have a little babypool in their kennel and love to get dirty and wet... And the puppies of Susi and Happy, only 24 hours age-difference, are exploring the fenced puppy-kennels in one big group, taking care of growing green stuff, carrying mini-sticks around and definitely having a lot of fun!
Tomorrow starts the first weekprogram "Bike & Hike" and we look very much forward to a lot of customers during the next weeks!
