Pure Sun & Northern Lights

Time flies! Again 2 weeks have gone so fast and we are approaching the final weeks of the season. As usual we enjoy those weeks with great sun and excellent driving conditions . We would have loved to get once in a while, few weeks ago, only a small part of the sun and blue sky what we have now on a daily base. It starts already in the early morning, when the wakeup-call starts. And the sun shines normally during all day long, at the moment 11 1/2 hours. That has big impact on the happy mood and brings us happy clients.

The more/higher the sun shines, the more power she gets of course. And that means, day-temparatures are rising as well. At midday we often have now around 5 - 6 degrees plus. Luckily during nighttime it drops to minus degrees again and that keeps our trails still perfect: hard and fast, not yet icy, but still with good grip. We try to start out a bit earlier than normal and take profit from the cooler temperatures before noon. And the first B-dogs are already trained down and given more rest than during the high season. As you can see, they enjoy it a lot and are in a happy slowdown-mood.  Our plannings for puppies during summer went into stage 2 during the last 10 days. Some females were bred to excellent males and we hope to have some successfull ultrasounds in about 4 weeks. Exciting times also for us!

This week we still have full house here, guiding 2 groups of winterweek (one of it with extra cabin night), 1 group of Bears Trail and 2 Kalevala groups. Starting from next week we then have capacities again for making some sledruns by ourselves, without need to watch behind us! But the season runs until mid-April and the last Bears Trail will start on April 10th only! Sort of "down-training" for us humans...

Last Sunday they were dancing again on the sky above Eräkeskus, the Northern Lilghts! Although the nights are already pretty bright, especially so short before full moon, they were visible for a rather long time and our guests made some beautiful pictures. It was for sure a great start into a hopefully unforgettable week for the new arrived clients! And for sure this was not the last evening with Northern Lights during this season!
