After breakfast in the lodge, we load our bags to the car and drive about 30 minutes to Ruunaa. Following first the "Bears-Trail" (or "Karhunpolku" in finnish) we reach the Koskikierros (rapids)-hiking-trail, where we make a first short snack & picture stop on the half-island Niskalahti with its windshelter. Near the impressive Siikakoski-Rapid we prepare our lunch on open fire; Finnish bbq-sausages are best with Finnish mustard. Of course also our 4-legged friends get a snack. After the break we continue our hike over the hanging bridge and upstream direction of Murroojärvi, where we cross the river in a rowing boat. The last part of the trail is then on wooden planks, through wetlands and swamps.
