4 days Canoe-Adventure Ruunaa
100% Adventure! 100% Nature! 100% Relaxation!
That's what you will find and get on our 4-day-canoe-trip from Ruunaa to Eräkeskus. 80 km of paddling, always changing from slow running rivers to exciting rapids and wide open lake-areas. All along the whole route, we find many overnight places, either windshelters with fireplace and ready cut firewood, or then lonely beaches where we can put up our tent in the middle of nowhere, enjoying 100% of wilderness. An average of 20 km per day makes this route easy to paddle for all active people, but previous experience in paddling is necessary due to the many and long rapids.
Day-by-Day-Program
We meet at Eräkeskus latest at 10h00. Of course you are welcome to spend the night/s before the tour in our guesthouse to make sure you will have a perfect, stress-less startd into your paddling adventure.
We pack our equipment in waterproof bags and get transferred to Ruunaa, where we start our trip at the shores of Lake Ruunaanjärvi.
Day 1 we spend on the Lake Ruunaanjärvi and enjoy the untouched areas around the lake with nice beaches. Several fireplaces for paddlers are located around the lake.
The following 60 km of our route is divided by totally 9 rapids of class I or II. We inspect them all first from the shore, before deciding if we carry our boats around or if we paddle through. The rapids have a lenghts from 300 meters to 1500 meters and are ith normal water-level rather easy to paddle. Between the rapids, the landscape is always changing. slow running river-parts, lakes and of course plenty of forests.
We paddle along 2 small holiday villages where we can - if needed - purchase fresh cold beverages or more food. Otherwise we are paddling in almost untouched areas and hardly see any hikers nearby the shore or some fishermen hoping for a morning-trout.
On day 4 we reach Lake Nurmijärvi and on its eastern shore we arrive back home at Eräkeskus. From here you continue your individual holiday in Finland or spend some more nights with us.
