Last week we finished the first GoWest-Tour of the season 24. And we got better weather conditions than thought and mentionned in the last news. Elke, Joyce uand Mirko could run the long tour with Simone, without scooter-company, with 2 day sun, 1 day foggy grey and 1 day with snowfall and heavy winds. A bit from everything during that tour and the sledride to Kuohatti was good fun. 2 dogteams from the old kennels and 2 dogteams from the new kennels were part of the group and they proved once more, how much fun they have when running over the trails. Moritz did a long job on Sunday to open the trails and brought us straw to the cabin, all other things we carried on the sleds. It was a great week - next GoWest coming soon. On top to this tour, we had 1 group for Bears trail and one other for Winterweek Plus, which has the advantage that the Aittokoski cabin was used 5 nights in a row and was handed over to every guide warm and prepared.
And now already the week 6 has started. This time, Ruunaa is calling with the wildwaters and hanging bridges, plus also this week a group of Bears Trail and another with Winterweek Plus. And again, we worry a bit, if everything can be run as planned, due to weather. This time they announce very low temperatures in the 2nd half of the week with nights well below -30C. One week almost too warm, the next one almost too cold, and again it is snowing and snowing... trails get soft and deep again. Wondering if we have the luck to get a few weeks in a row with good, easy conditions during this season... Nobody knows, we have to take it as it comes. At least nobody can complain this winter about a low snow cover...
