Over Hills & along Water heading South

A short car-transfer after breakfast to the Lakes Änäkäinen, 7 km away from Eräkeskus. We visit  the re-built trenches from winter-war 1939/40 at first. An important part of Finnish history took place here. Afterwards we start our hiking-trip way south on the famous Karhunpolku-trail. We have a short stop at the fireplace of lake Jynkänlampi, then a longer lunch-break at the wind-shelter "Small-Alaska" facing river Hähnijoki, where we enjoy a roasted sausage. Then we hike further south, along and over the hills, through typical Finnish landscape, until we reach Lake Suuri Piilonen after 16 km. Here we make an open fire again, enjoy the view on the lake without any buildings at all and wait for the car bringing us back to Eräkeskus. A moderate hiking trip with some easy ups & downs and great views.
