2 days on Bears Trail
A relaxed 2-day-hiking for nature-lover who do not need distance-records. On this hiking trip we let the hectic life behind us and adjust our pace to a more relaxed level, enjoying nature, silence and the company of the dogs who join for the trip. Of course this 2-day-program can be included in a week-stay at Eräkeskus, or you include it into your car-roundtrip around Finland to have a short break from driving.
Day by Day program
Day 1 | Arrival at Eräkeskus should be around 10h00 in the morning. Optionally we can book you a room for the night before the tour in our guest house. A short car-transfer brings us to the Lakes Änäkäinen, 7 km away from Eräkeskus. We visit the re-built trenches from winter-war 1939/40 at first. An important part of Finnish history took place here. Afterwards we start our hiking-trip way south on the famous Karhunpolku-trail. We have lunch at the Jynkänlampi-fireplace and enjoy a roasted sausage. Then we hike further south, a few ups and downs through the typical Finnish landscape, until we reach Lake Suuri Piilonen after 14 km. Here we make an open fire again, enjoy the view on the lake without any buildings at all, prepare our dinner on open fire and have overnight in the windshelter or in a tent. |

Day 2 | After a tasty breakfast from open fire, we pack our bags again and continue our hike south. Following the Karhunpolku-trail, we cross typical swamp and forest areas, walk along a beautiful wildmark-lake, heading towards ridge of Hovivaara. Our final destination, the wildwater-parts of river Naarajoki, after 14 km total distance, can be heard long before we see them. The last short part of our hike we walk just next to the wildwater until we reach the Laavu, where we prepare our lunch, before the transfer car gets us back to Eräkeskus. Here you maybe spend some more nights in the guesthouse or you continue your own trip through Finland. |
