Who wants to run, can run now!

2 more weeks are over and we completed BearsTrails, BorderTrails and winterweeks with a lot of nice guests. Only BearsTrail from last week was shortened by 1 cabin overnight, because weather forecast announced a sudden extreme cold of -33C, felt like -37C. Thanks to all guests who accepted and understood this. We do not like to let our dogs out in front of the cabin at this cold for overnight. And unfortunately we cannot take all of them inside! A special word goes to Dieter, who was here last week, aged 78 years. He was first time ever on a sled, drove his 5-dog-team during 4 days and got one with his team more and more, every day. You are never to old, to start a new adventure! Very well done, Dieter!

Our dogs - also we - are now facing the high season. Starting from next weekend, we are fully booked for 7 weeks and every dog who wants to run will have plenty of occasions to do this. To keep them happy, well fed and in good mood, we just got a new delivery of dog food: 6 tons of dryfood, almost 1000 kg of salmon, 750 kg of beef-salmon-mix, 750 kg of beef-pork-mix, topped by about 500 kg of snacks to be used on tour, salmon stripes, chicken breast and pork spinal column; and last but not least piles of boxes of power-sausages, chicken-liver, grounded chicken, cow-stomach and pure beef-fat in powder-form to be added here at the base or out in the cabins to their normal food. We, the humans, have the same nutrition as usual: first coffee in bed (for some of us), then quick breakfast while standing at the counter, lunch and 3-course-dinner with our guests. :-)

Our 3 puppies, Ivalo, Inari and Finja moved to the puppy-house by now and start exploring the half of it so far. Second half is reserved for mum Sisu at the moment, to give her a chance to relax for some short whiles. They get brave and fond of new discoveries! 2nd deworming is done and their weight is now between 4.7 kg and 5.5. kg.

Winter-greetings from very windy North-Carelia today!
