Yes, we had many sunny and warm days now and no changes back to winter are announced. Today we should reach the 20 degrees-mark first time this spring. This means, the rivers are already free from ice, the lakes will hopefully soon be, and only a few snow-piles in sun-protected areas are still refusing to leave. In front of the lodge we have the first shy green bushes and more colours will soon join!
We are cleaning the winter-wilderness cabins and get all the straw back, kennels are high-pressure-cleaned and got desinfected floors; starting from Monday the main building will be surrounded by scaffold, as the building works 2017 start then; the pups are growing fast and get more and more active, they all live in the puppyhouse outside now; we are preparing bikes for the first tours, summer equipment is checked, replaced and put ready for the first guests, arriving here already on 8th May.
Martina left us already mid-April and she took Ivalo with her, who will now be living in central Switzerland. Frank and Mandela are on the ferry to Germany right now, but in 5 months they will be back again. And our veteran lady Maito is with Frank as well, travelling to Germany where she her new owner Monika is waiting for her. And tomorrow, Anna, our first summer-volunteer will arrive we wish her a good trip and look forward to meet her.
Sadly we cannot yet start the freeruns in the new kennels, as a family of moose decided, that the area just around our kennels is the perfect habitat for them and refuse to leave. Although Fanta and Ian already tried to communicate with them the "dog-way", those "Kings of the forest" refuse to search another kingdom a bit further away. We keep on trying!
See, we never get bored here! Many projects for summer 2017 are in our heads and although all of us "longtime-worker" will enjoy a long holiday in near future, many of those projects will be realised step by step. And if all projects are done, we will fine new ones
