Sun, Snow and Good Mood!

Week 13 of this year is halfway gone, perfect conditions still in our area! Most of the days have blue sky, a lot of sun and still great trails! Most of the dogs are still perfectly motivated; only a few of them have started the down-training-period. The picture of Possu shows nicely, how huge their motivations still is...!

The last Bordertrail was as beautiful as the actually running 4 groups of winterweek Polar, Plus and Special.  Only Friday this week will be a bit too warm for dogsledding. We switched the day-by-day-program and the dogs get a day off then, while we still can complete the full programs as offered. The young wild ones are the craziest and do bother the least about the warm sunshine. Little-Sammy even jumps straight in the harness-storage to get harnessed a bit faster!

The first bears are awake, as we can see sometimes in fresh prints on the snow-cover. Also the wolf-prints in the area of the Hähnijoki-cabin are sometimes really fresh, when we pass by with our teams. But we can never get a glimpse of the forest-inhabitants. Wondering if they observe us, when we run with our dogteams over the trails?

We are looking forward to the last 3 1/2 weeks of the season and are quite confident to have trails and suitable conditions until the very end of the season! The "heat-wave" of Friday with up to 10 degrees C lasts only for 1 day, then the temperatures drop back to normal spring-levels. Thanks to many nights still with minus-degrees the trails should last for a good while still!
