About moose, bats, "buffalos" and mushrooms

A lot happened in the last 2 weeks... besides more paddling and hiking with families and a wolf-hike with Vladimir, we could - besides the guest-serving - also continue with some joker-jobs. The leaking roof of the workshop was finally fixed. Where earlier was the chimney, is now a waterproof new roof. And the re-building of the staffhouse-bathroom was finally started as well. "Our" Finn Olli is giving everything he can to get it done by end of this month.

When checking-out the quality of the staffhouse-roof, Alex obviously scared off a bat and luckily had his mobile ready fast enough to get a picture. And as fast as he had the handy ready, looks like a moose ran past our wild-animal-camera... Only a medium-quality picture, but still a proof: yes, they exist! And when we drive nearby the farmer who provides us with the local beef-meat, we can see in those days the swimming "Karelian Water Buffalos" or Scottish Higlanders", who enjoy their life on the huge fields and can cool down in the river whenever they want.

Frieda left us a few days ago. She was with us for 2 long volunteering-perdiods and helped in the best thinkable way wherever it was needed. An always smilng face and a very efficient teammember went home to Germany for an undefined period. "Undefined" because we are sure to see her again, there is always a 3rd time... Thanks a lot, Frieda, for everything, have a good start down-there and see you again!

And last but not least: 2020 is THE mushroom-year in our history! "Looking" for mushrooms was earlier, this year we just collect them in masses. We could fill a bag on every short dogwalk. But as our dryer-capacities are limited, we limited the harvesting also to 3 bags per day maximum. And we already got used to the constant low humming of the 8 - 11 dryers in the lodge.
