Borders open - working up on Corona

Since today, the Finnish  borders are again open for you and you can enter the country for a holiday without restrictions, quarantine or health tests. We are ready! As Nadja already wrote recently in her News, our hygiene-measurements were adapted to the new virus, also our small restaurant meets all the new regulations after Covid-19.  During the last 10 days, there were no new infections in 16 out of the 19 hospital-districts in the whole country. We counted only 7300 confirmed infections in Finland since the pandemic began, which makes only 131 cases on 100'000 habitants. Only  6 persons are in hospital at the moment because of Corona, none of them in intensive care. The figures are very positive and if we all stick to the hygiene-measurements also in future, they can stay positive. Social Distancing in North-Karelia is like normal. With our small number of guest-beds and the small groups of maximum 6, what we are guiding on tours, a stay with us is almost as safe like staying home.  And yes, we very much look foreward to have guests again!

During the last 2 weeks we have shoveled wood chips and shoveled wood chips and shoveled wood chips... but now the pile finally looks smaller. At the moment we also build a drainage-system under the road from the dog-poo-container to the catch basin. With "horror" and a smile in the face, we realised tat our new built wardrobe in the guesthouse is still alive. Thanks to AirBnB we could already welcome a few guests here as well as in the Aittokoski-cabin. Our new team-member Peter is here since a week and already working alone in the Old Kennels. Nadja and Alex enjoy their time-out in Sweden, Caro hers at the Baltic Sea, Frieda starts her last 2 1/2 weeks with us with at least 1 tear in her eyes, and as a surprise Alina (former team-member) came to visit us for 10 days and gave us a helping hand. And guest-dog Nipsu (a Carelian Beardog) has a lot of fun with us!

Yes, we enjoy summer, on the water, in the kennels, in the sun and sometimes in heavy short rain, in temperatures much nicer than in many southern areas. And we look very much forward to the "opened" half of summer 2020!
